The Public TV did not touch upon a number of topics

A number of topics were bypassed in the November 2 newscast of the Public Television. The reaction of the office of the second president Robert Kocharyan to the video of the National Security Service (NSS), where it was stated that Kocharyan’s supporters also took part in the riots, was not presented. The Public TV did not present the protest action demanding the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan in Ijevan, where a scuffle broke out between the police and the citizens, some of the protesters were detained. Protests took place in the yards of the houses of “My Step” fraction deputies Vahagn Hovakimyan and Vahagn Tevosyan. The pro-government deputies are accused of supporting the prime minister; public demands that they leave.

The statement of the Television and Radio Commission (TRC), in which they expressed concern over the actions taken by the police against the crew of “Yerkir Media” TV was not presented. A number of journalistic organizations also made a call, demanding to initiate an official investigation into the incident, which was not presented either. It should be reminded that the police had attacked the cameraman, the camera had been broken.

“Media Advocate” initiative once again records that the TV company financed from public funds bypasses the topics that have received public attention. The events are presented unilaterally and incompletely, as a result of which the real picture is distorted. The public television is obliged to serve the public interest, while it operates as a government propaganda machine.
