After the protests in Yerevan, Gegham Manukyan, the head of political and news programs of “Yerkir Media” TV was arrested.
In fact, the authorities are trying to silence both the opposition representatives and the journalists by implementing such actions. A repressive struggle against dissent and freedom of speech has started under the name of martial law․
“Media Advocate” initiative condemns Gegham Manukyan’s arrest. We again urge the police not to become a tool in the hands of the authorities, and not to apply pressure on freedom of speech or the press representatives.
