The general picture of the coverage of the Karabakh conflict in the Foreign media from November 4 to 5

From November 4 to 5, 2020, “Media Advocate” initiative monitored the publications of 5 leading foreign media outlets to find out how the foreign media covered the actions unleashed by Azerbaijan. The websites of the following media outlets were monitored: “BBC”, “CNN”, “Reuters”, “Associated Press” (AP), and “Deutsche Welle” (DW-English version).

The BBC and CNN news agency did not cover the Karabakh conflict during this period.

Reuters news agency published 3 articles in the specified monitoring period. “Nagorno-Karabakh’s largest city came under heavy shelling”, three sources working there, told Reuters, as Reporters Without Borders called for the safe evacuation of civilians who it says are trapped in Stepanakert.

The Associated Press published 1 article during the specified monitoring period. The media outlet noted that “An Azerbaijani soccer club Qarabag official was suspended by UEFA while under investigation for posting offensive comments about Armenia on social media.”

Deutsche Welle news agency published 1 article. In its article titled as “World in Progress: Irregular Migration and the EU”, the German news outlet noted that Armenian Diaspora is concerned about Nagorno-Karabakch conflict.
