No positive articles were published on Arayik Harutyunyan

From 11 to 20 April, 2020, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Minister Arayik Harutyunyan’s personality and activities. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.

In the specified period, 141 articles were declared, 47 of which were negative and 138 were neutral.

No positive articles were published on ESCS Minister Arayik Harutyunyan. The minister has been criticized for appointing Karen Petrosyan as a rector of the Gyumri Branch of the Armenian State University of Economics. Karen Petrosyan is blamed for being engaged in the fight against the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Gagik Hambaryan, a political scientist and lecturer at Shirak State University, continues to criticize Arayik Harutyunyan and raises the problems of the University.

According to media reports, the land belonging to the Genocide Museum, where the memorial to the victims of the Genocide was planned to be built, will be handed over to Yerevan Municipality by Nikol Pashinyan’s decision. The publication notes: “We have the note of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan written to the director of the Genocide Museum Harutyun Marutyan.”

It should also be noted that this year the Armenian authorities have not planned any commemoration event for the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, they have not even formed a commission.
