The negative articles on Levon Ter-Petrosyan prevail in number

From 1 to 10 October, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the First President of the Republic of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s personality and activities.

In the specified period, 85 articles were declared, 44 of which were negative, 4 were positive and 37 were neutral.

Both positive and negative articles were declared on the first president of the Republic of Armenia during this ten-day monitoring period, but the negative ones prevail in number.

The press recalled Vardan Oskanyan’s press conference held in 2008 where the then Foreign Minister accused the opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan for not accepting the helping hand and insisted that the first president is neither detained nor arrested.

A confrontation started in the press between Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s supporters and Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF). Erik Andreasyan, in his turn, noted in his publication: “I am not interested in Liza Chagharyan’s opinion on ARF. Her ideological father and the “low-grade place” where Liza Chagharyan comes from, have already tried to do their best against ARF and I hope that one day Liza will be told the reality and she will understand what kind of an organization ARF is.”

One may also find publications expressing the idea that the current authorities and Levon Ter-Petrosyan are combined and they actually work together. That is, the ones to be blamed for many current problems are Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s supporters.

The press circulates the following idea regarding the current state of the National Security Service and the police: “It is necessary to formulate a new agenda, as it was done in the 1990s, when Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s government was trying to find political solutions for the police and NSS.” The publication presenting this statement has been assessed as positive.
