“RFE/RL’s Armenia Service unilaterally presents the situation over the Constitutional Court

In one of the reports of the October 16 issue of “RFE/RL’s Armenia Service, the processes over the Constitutional Court were not comprehensively presented. The journalist has presented the report only based on the opinions of the MPs of the ruling party. Moreover, the topic of the report was one of the solutions proposed by Constitutional Court Judge Vahe Grigoryan, which is the replacement of seven of the judges with new ones. Vahagn Hovakimyan mentioned that there is a crisis in the Constitutional Court, they are not doing anything and there are only two judges. Anush Beghloyan, in her turn, did not exclude the possibility that the issue could be solved by implementing Vahe Grigoryan’s suggestion.

Addressing the Constitutional Court’s decision of not taking the appeal of the National Assembly, “My Step” MP Anush Beghloyan mentioned that they will try to solve the issue by other means. By the way, “other means” did not take long. In the evening it was already clear that the 75-year-old pensioner father and two daughters of Constitutional Court President Hrayr Tovmasyan had been summoned to the National Security Service. “Azatutyun” briefly touched upon it in today’s October 17 issue, presenting only Former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Ruben Melikyan’s post, while no comment has been asked from representatives of non-governmental forces.

“Media Advocate” Initiative urges “Azatutyun” to stop such kind of practice.
