During the October 13 evening broadcast of “Azatutyun” TV news center, a report was broadcasted on the residents’ rights violated during the implementation of “Northern Avenue-Cascade” programs which took place at the time of Robert Kocharyan’s presidency.
Reference was made to hearings initiated by National Assembly Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan at the start of the last week, presenting the viewpoints of affected residents, their lawyers and public figures. The NA speaker’s speech was presented, during which Mirzoyan promised the law enforcement bodies to present the “illegalities” presented during the hearings.
Affected residents of Northern Avenue have strongly criticized the steps undertaken by Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan during his tenure, with a special emphasis on the decisions made by former mayor Yervand Zakharyan.
There is no contradictory standpoint in the report, that is, it is extremely unilateral. We urge “Azatutyun” to uphold the principle of dissemination of comprehensive information, and to refrain from representing unilateral information.
