From 1 to 10 September, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the wife of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Hakobyan’s personality and activities.
35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 151 articles were declared, 27 of which were negative and 124 were neutral.
There are no positive articles on Mrs. Anna Hakobyan. Of course, Anna Hakobyan initiates some activities, but the feedback is negative both in case of the foundation and other activities.
According to the news outlets, Anna Hakobyan, without being a member of the “Civil Contract” (CC) party, participated in the party’s meeting, during which an incident occurred between her and Hayk Sargsyan. According to media agencies, Anna Hakobyan spoke rudely with the MP during the session. Suren Papikyan, head of the Board of the “Civil Contract” party, denied the rumors about the incident and Mrs. Hakobyan’s participation in the meeting.
It is also noted that Anna Hakobyan’s “City of Smile” charitable foundation remains as a matter of hot discussions. This time, according to the publication, it became known that the Foundation’s Executive Director Esther Demirchyan has an office at the Yolyan Hematology Center.
The media outlets also did not forget Anna Hakobyan’s interview with the “Voice of America”, in which Mrs. Hakobyan expressed her thoughts on the soldiers killed in combat, which triggered heated discussions. The phrase: “Our guys have died for nothing” has been repeatedly commented and explained by the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Anna Hakobyan, but it, left a negative impact anyway.
As far as the campaign against Arsen Torosyan is concerned, according to media reports, it has been organized by Anna Hakobyan and one of the proofs is the incident between Arsen Torosyan and Gevorg Tamamyan: the latter has close ties with Anna Hakobyan.
