“Azatutyun” openly defended Vahe Grigoryan’s self-proclamation

“Azatutyun’s” June 20 evening broadcast also addressed the statement made by Vahe Grigoryan, a Constitutional Court judge, who announced at the National Assembly that he is going to the Constitutional Court with the powers of the CC president.

Reportage mostly covered pieces of V. Grigoryan’s speech. Although report shows that Vahe Grigoryan assumes the powers and responsibilities of the president along with Hrayr Tovmasyan’s tenure, and the mentioned statement has caused a lot of discussions, Nikolay Baghdasaryan, a member of the NA Committee on State and Legal Affairs, clarifies the situation: “Hrayr Tovmasyan, listening to Vahe Grigoryan’s speech, should not go to work tomorrow because he understood that he is no longer the president of the Constitutional Court.” In contrast with V. Grigoryan’s statement, the leader of the “Bright Armenia” faction, Edmon Marukyan’s 40-seconds-long speech is presented, in which the MP promises to express a clear position only after exploring the justifications of the newly-elected judge.

That is to say, despite the fact that Vahe Grigoryan’s announcement’s at the National Assembly caused concern and dissatisfaction, “Azatutyun TV” refrains from presenting lawyers’ opinions, expressing its support to Vahe Grigoryan’s statement.
