From 1 to 10 May, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Gagik Tsarukyan’s personality and activities.
34 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 560 articles were declared, 78 of which were negative, 81 were positive and 401 were neutral.
There is a slight difference between positive and negative articles on MP Gagik Tsarukyan. Negative articles, in the previous ten-day period, are mainly related to Gagik Tsarukyan’s business affairs. The news outlets note that the Citizen’s Decision (CD) party continues to insist that Tsarukyan is engaged in parliamentary activities with the violation of the law. Then they also criticized Tsarukyan’s parliamentary activities. The news agencies say that Tsarukyan enjoys “sheik” pleasures and, for example, “the food is served to him separately”.
As a counterattack, Tsarukyan’s team started to act more actively, they immediately started to praise their leader in the media field. The NA deputy, in his turn, continues to carry out charity projects more actively.
