Obvious propaganda: Azatutyun commentator violates professional ethics

On February 21, Karen Aslanyan hosted in Azatutyun TV, Arsen Kharatyan, editor-in-chief of Alik Media news outlet, operating in Georgia. The topic mainly referred to the upcoming referendum on April 5.

The commentator was expressing his attitude when asking questions and agreed with the guest’s points of view. “You see the ears of the former authorities in the back of the court”, “The count of the former ones is that Pashinyan is alone, the referendum is of no interest to anyone …”, “If we listen to the former government, we live in 1937”. Both the guest and the commentator in their turn regularly referred to the past, also spoke of an atmosphere of hatred, but, as a matter of fact, they themselves spread hatred.

“Media Advocate” initiative urges the journalist to uphold professional ethics. The journalist must be neutral and not express political preference when asking questions or expressing opinions.
