Most of the Public Television’s May 23rd  broadcast was devoted to the discussions over the judicial system. Two reports of news broadcast were criticizing the current judiciary. Particularly, the report entitled “The Legal Aspect of the CC Presidency” states that “Hrayr Tovmasyan was appointed to the office of the CC President with violation of the Constitution.” Those who challenge the issue of impartiality of the Constitutional Court draw attention to the legal aspect of the CC presidency. “Azatutyun” again demonstrated a biased position:

On May 16, “Azatutyun” presented an interview entitled “If Kocharyan is set free, it will endanger May 1 disclosure for the second time”, hosting Armen Khachatryan, a member of the ANC Legal Affairs Committee. The debate over the topic was again one-sided because there was not any representative from the opposite side. Moreover, the journalist’s questions to the guest were obviously orienting and impartial during the whole interview. Although if opposite side is absent, the journalist should ensure the balance of the interview with opposite questions (3: 54-4: 25,7: 33-9: 46). Keep Reading

The Imitation of a Balance

During the last ten days, the news service of the Public Television of Armenia, publishes reports which include a strict criticism of the former authorities. Political and legal procedures on the latter’s mainly include the opinion of the opposite side: On May 8, Public TV’s news and analytical program responsible, Petros Ghazaryan hosted a former military prosecutor Gagik Jhangiryan (https://www.youtube.com/watch ? v = patp0IkMVm0), which was openly accusing the judiciary, questioning the decisions of the Constitutional Court.
