“Hraparak” daily journalist Vahe Makaryan referred to the latest publication of “Media Advocate” initiative on his Facebook page, in which, in accordance with our principles, and the mission of protecting the rights of journalists, we expressed support to the journalist. In his Facebook post, Makaryan thanked the initiative for always standing by the journalists, adding that he does not consider himself a victim in this case, so it is not desirable to speculate on that topic. We consider worth informing that our publication did not have any purpose to speculate, on the contrary, in this and other cases, our calls are aimed exclusively at establishing mutual understanding between journalists and state officials. The published video gave an impression that at the beginning of the briefing Alen Simonyan displayed disrespectful attitude towards the journalists, in particular targeting the journalist of “Hraparak” daily. Media-related issues have never been viewed by the initiative in the context of personal relations, but in the context of government / political institutions-media relations. We will continue to record every violation of the rights of the journalists and the representatives of the journalistic community.
