Petros Ghazaryan’s incorrect expression regarding the media

On December 7, Petros Ghazaryan’s guest on Public TV was Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the “Bright Armenia” party, who was also announced by their party as an alternative candidate for the post of the prime minister. Petros Ghazaryan noted: “What prevents the parties of the National Assembly and the 16 forces from gathering without the media, as most of the media is a dumb propaganda tool.”

“Media Advocate” initiative considers such a statement by the commentator insulting to the media. Furthermore, it is unacceptable to make an assertion or express an opinion during an interview from the point of view of professional ethics. Before accusing his colleagues of preaching, the commentator should take into account that he works in a media outlet that is financed at the expense of the public funds, while serving the interests of the government. As a result of such expressions Public TV, unfortunately, becomes a propaganda tool.
