Disrespectful attitude towards the guest

On December 5, Petros Ghazaryan’s guest on Public TV was Ara Sahakyan, a member of the “Hayrenik” (Homeland) Party council. The host quoted the thoughts voiced by Vazgen Manukyan at the protest: “Vazgen Manukyan announces that if Nikol Pashinyan does not go voluntarily, he will be dismissed by force. It is a good start for civil solidarity, force implies strength.” Ara Sahakyan answered: “Force presupposes closing the streets, force presupposes violation of public order, breaking the doors of the TV committee, paralyzing the traffic, these young people will go the same way the way came to power. Petros Ghazaryan continued: “What if that “force” means when they broke your head. You now want to bring back those forces that did the same thing to you, to you personally in 2008.” The guest answered: “As for the case of 1996, you brought my example, which I consider disrespectful towards the guest. You confuse a personal incident with a political one. I think that it is not proper to bring such an example, these pavilions are for a rational debate.”

“Media Advocate” initiative notes that Petros Ghazaryan recently invites the opposition representatives for an interview, but provides unequal conditions for them in comparison to the government representatives. In the conversation with the authorities, he is mainly passive, while he does not allow the opposition figures to express themselves, interrupts, violates the rules of professional ethics.
