During the protest action demanding Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation, the police used force against the cameraman of “Yerkir Media” TV; the latter’s camera was damaged.
According to the director of the TV Company Gegham Manukyan, the police first put the cameraman in the police car, and then released him.
“Media Advocate” initiative condemns the move against the cameraman and the media outlet.
This is yet another encroachment on freedom of expression by the police, based on the arbitrariness of the authorities as well as their persistent attempts to silence the media.
We appeal to our colleagues in international journalistic and human rights structures to condemn the happening and take appropriate measures.
