Despite the war, the head of the CC staff is interested in the financial flows of “Hraparak” newspaper

Trdat Sargsyan, the chief of staff of the Civil Contract party, petitioned the court to demand from Hraparak to submit a reference on the newspaper’s financial flows. The former governor of Vayots Dzor Trdat Sargsyan considered the article published in the newspaper on September 28 a slander and demanded to respect him. Meanwhile, it is not clear why the chief of staff of the Civil Contract party is interested in whether the newspaper will be able to pay 2 million drams for slander, of course, if there is a relevant court decision.
The representative of the latter said in court that the reference on the financial flows of “Hraparak” is necessary for them to understand whether the newspaper has enough financial means to pay the lawsuit. The question seemed absurd even to the judge, as Hraparak writes: “The judge asked why the plaintiff demands financial information from September 2019 to October 2020, when the trial may last, let’s say, a year. The answer was that, usually, one year turnover is enough to get an idea of the financial situation.”
“Media Advocate” initiative considers the happening unacceptable in terms pressure on the media and on the freedom of speech. Such internal intrigues are unacceptable during these tense days of war. We call on the leader of the CC party to direct all his efforts and energy to the solution to the most important and primary issue at the moment – the stabilization of the country.
