The general picture of the coverage of the Karabakh conflict in the Foreign media from October 16 to 18

From October 16 to 18, 2020, “Media Advocate” initiative monitored the publications of 5 leading foreign media outlets to find out how the foreign media covered the actions unleashed by Azerbaijan. The websites of the following media outlets were monitored: “BBC”, “CNN”, “Reuters”, “Associated Press” (AP), and “Deutsche Welle” (DW-English version).

The BBC news agency published 4 extensive articles during the specified monitoring period. The news outlet referred to the mutual accusations of the parties regarding the missile attack on the cities and violation of a humanitarian ceasefire.

CNN news agency published 2 articles. The news agency noted that Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to a “humanitarian ceasefire.”

Reuters news agency published 8 articles in the specified monitoring period. The media outlet referred to the telephone conversation of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during which Erdogan noted that “Canada’s suspension of the export of some drone technology was not in line with the spirit of alliance”.

The Associated Press published 2 articles during the specified monitoring period. The news outlet has published two extensive articles which summarize the recent military operations and statements by the conflicting parties.

Deutsche Welle news agency published 3 articles. The German news outlet referred to the fact that Russia holds Caspian Sea military drills amid Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict.
