Public TV’s News Service did not touch upon the most important topics

On September 7, the press service of the Public Television did not touch upon the protest demanding the resignation of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan, as well as the protest action of citizens wanting to leave for Russia which took place in front of the Government building, and the indefinite hunger strike of reserve officer Tsolak Khachatryan which was again held in front of the Government building. The incident between the supporters of Amulsar and Lydian was presented incompletely as Public TV provided only about 40 seconds of airtime without presenting the views of the sides.
“Media Advocate” initiative considers unacceptable the working style of the media outlet to bypass the important issues that have received public attention. The news service of a publicly funded TV station is obliged to present an accurate picture of the events taking place in the country. This once again proves that the news service of the Public Television serves the government, bypassing the topics which are undesirable for the government, while its goal should have been to serve the public interest.
