From 21 to 31 August, 2020, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Vice-speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan’s personality and activities.
35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 125 articles were declared, 60 of which were negative, 2 were positive and 63 were neutral.
Numerous negative articles were published on RA NA Vice-Speaker Alen Simonyan.
NA Vice-Speaker Vahe Enfiajyan, referring to Alen Simonyan’s remark on Robert Kocharyan-Gagik Tsarukyan tie, noted: “Of course, we would be very happy if we had to refer to substantive discussions and questions, but unfortunately, after any public statement by the PAP chairman, there is no lack of meaningless comments and various imaginary analyzes. This time the next “discovery of the century” was made by the NA Deputy Speaker Alen Simonyan, who expressed a world-rocking idea, according to which at this stage they are witnessing the restoration of Kocharyan-Tsarukyan “friendship”.
The chairman of the youth union of the “Prosperous Armenia” party Ashot Andreasyan wrote the following on his Facebook page: “When I see Alen Simonyan, whether in the corridors of the National Assembly, or on TV or in Tumanyan’s” SAS “, the first thing that comes to my mind is the video clip of singer Juse, where Alen very gently crawls in the aquarium.”
