Azatutyun did not present a number of topics that received public attention

Azatutyun TV’s September 7 newscasts did not touch upon the protest demanding the resignation of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan, the protest action of citizens wanting to leave for Russia in front of the Government building, the protest action by Babken Harutyunyan, President of the Public Control Center NGO and the indefinite hunger strike of reserve officer Tsolak Khachatryan.
In fact, these were the most discussed topics of the day. RFE/RL’s Armenian Service has bypassed a number of issues that have received public attention, instead devoting half of its coverage to international news, in particular, the protests in Belarus and the developments around Alexei Navalny. One of the main topics of the day was the incident between the supporters of Amulsar and Lydian’s guards, which was covered.
“Media Advocate” initiative considers such a working style unacceptable, the events are presented incompletely and selectively, such information cannot ensure the citizen’s right to be fully informed. Yesterday’s broadcasts gave the impression that the employees of RFE/RL’s Armenian Service were on vacation, as information of such quality was unacceptable.
