Azatutyun TV’s issue was not neutral

During Azatutyun TV’s September 6 issue, referring to the activities of the “Hayrenik” party, Hrayr Tamrazyan presented his standpoint, violating journalistic ethics: “New parties have been established, former politicians have joined them, but the political force that can compete with the prime minister, the supporters of whom can pose a serious challenge to the current authorities and the prime minister is not outlined yet. Unable to deny the Prime Minister’s high rating, some of these oppositionists claim that Nikol Pashinyan has fans, not supporters, like Kim Kardashian. This kind of opposition representatives want to convince them and others that the country is about to be destroyed, that the people are indignant and they want change of power, but the signs of indignation and destruction are not so visible yet. The ARF (Armenian Revolutionary Federation) has once again extended a hand of cooperation to the party representing the interests of large capital.” Then Hrayr Tamrazyan discussed the cooperation with the “Hayrenik” party, with a member of the ARF Supreme Body Artsvik Minasyan, starting the question following way: “What for do you unite?” Tamrazyan’s questions were not neutral, he was expressing an emphasized attitude, while in the conversation with the other guest, MP of “My Step” fraction Ruben Rubinyan, Tamrazyan agreed with him, mocking the former ones.

“Media Advocate” initiative considers such an attitude impermissible. The journalist must be neutral, refrain from expressing an opinion and voicing his own political preferences.
