The Public Television provided 25 seconds to the coverage of protest in front of the government building

The Public Television provided 25 seconds of its main newscast to the coverage of protest demanding to open the borders bilaterally which took place in front of the government building on August 12, without presenting the speech of any of the protesters or the answers of the Foreign Minister.

The citizens mentioned that they were held hostage, they want to go to their relatives, they have a working problem, there are no tickets available, they are going to leave by car. They asked the Foreign Minister to use his diplomatic ties and find a solution to this problem. The Minister noted that those wishing to leave Armenia should consider the policy of the host country, in this case, Russia. According to the Foreign Minister, the addressees of the questions addressed to him are actually the Russian authorities.

“Media Advocate” initiative periodically notes that the Public Television bypasses the problematic topics, such as demonstrations, protests, presenting the reality deteriorated. The TV company is obliged to present the events that are of public interest in a comprehensive and accurate way. For years, people have always joked that Public TV presents Switzerland not Armenia. Unfortunately, the changes that have taken place in the country have not affected the Public TV’s work style, where political interests take precedence over public interests, journalistic principles are violated.
