No positive articles were published on Alen Simonyan

From 21 to 31 July, 2020, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Vice-speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan’s personality and activities.

35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.

In the specified period, 188 articles were declared, 92 of which were negative and 96 were neutral.

No positive articles were published on RA NA Deputy Speaker Alen Simonyan.

Arthur Danielyan was charged after the incident with the RA NA Vice Speaker Alen Simonyan.

A number of parties condemn the fact of accusing the head of “Adekvad” Congregation Arthur Danielyan. The extra-parliamentary forces consider this a political persecution and a unilateral approach to the opposition figure.

In particular, Lilit Galstyan, a member of the ARF Supreme Body, is sure that the accusation against Arthur Danielyan cannot help having a political context.

Arsen Babayan, a former Deputy Chief of Staff of the National Assembly, is convinced that this criminal case and the accusation against Arthur Danielyan is nothing but a political order.

ARF member Bagrat Yesayan made a post on his Facebook page, noting that everything is optional for the government of “walkers”, even justice: “If the swearing uttered by Arthur is a criminally punishable act, then the same accusation of hooliganism should be charged against Alen and Edmon Marukyan. Moreover this case was followed by a hit by the NA Deputy Speaker, as a result of which Arthur Danielyan received a severe bodily injury (his nose was broken). Nevertheless, the “law enforcement officers”, who have admitted their role of the tomfull and the well-known tool given to them by the “walkers”, are initiating a case against Arthur Danielyan.”

In fact, many socio-political figures are puzzled by this situation. They consider that illegality has taken place as not the attacker has been charged, but the person being attacked.

The residents of Yekmalyan Street of Yerevan note that modest people have become homeless, while the deputies came and occupied the apartments of the newly built building, which were intended for the residents of this area. Alen Simonyan, for example, bought two apartments in this building. Residents add, everyone considers this building a great catch.
