No positive articles were published on ESCS Minister

From 21 to 31 July, 2020, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Minister Arayik Harutyunyan’s personality and activities. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.

In the specified period, 480 articles were declared, 240 of which were negative and 240 were neutral.

No positive articles were published on RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan.

YSU Associate Professor Armen Avetisyan made a number of remarks regarding the sphere of education. He, in particularly, noted: “With the help of the Minister of Education, Science, etc., the major universities of the republic have been left ownerless․ without a rector and a governing body for about two years.”

According to the press, in order to support the candidacy of Arayik Harutyunyan’s advisor’s friend, the ESCS decided to violate the YSU Charter in connection with the its Board of Trustees, which has not been formed for a long time now. The press notes that the ESCS has decided to take more serious steps, to bypass Article 31 of the YSU Charter, that is, to include only those businessmen on the Board of Trustees who will be willing to blindly vote for the disputed ESCS candidate.

In a conversation with the press, referring to the protests of entrants failed to be admitted to universities, that have been going on for days, Zaruhi Postanjyan noted: “Arayik Harutyunyan goes back to the corrupt scheme of the Soviet years existing in the educational system. All this is done on purpose, they make such decisions taking advantage of the situation resulted because of the coronavirus.”

At the meeting with the deputies in the National Assembly on July 29, the parent of one of the entrants, Hasmik Aghajanyan, referring to the topic of the entrants who got high marks but failed to be admitted to the university, noted: “We read and listen, but we are not obliged to follow Arayik Harutyunyan’s Facebook lives, there should have been official information, especially during the state of emergency.”
