Petros Ghazaryan was not neutral

On July 28, Petros Ghazaryan’s guests on Public TV were prose writers Susanna Harutyunyan, Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan, MP from the “My Step” fraction Taguhi Ghazaryan, literary critic and prose writer Armen Ohanyan. The topic of public discussion was the new education standards that raised a wave of discussions. The main questions of public concern are as follows: why the word “Armenian” is removed from Armenian literature, why the Armenian language and literature should be taught together as one subject? There are some important authors who are not included in the list of literature, and so much more. Petros Ghazaryan, in fact, raised these questions, but at the same time his attitude was vivid. He addressed the doctor professors with irony typical of him, expressing his point of view: “I am a doctor professor, my whole problem is that I used to write textbooks before, I snatched money, now I can not do that․․․ Doctor professors prefer to swear – nationalism, denying your nation, destruction of the Armenian type.” The guests reminded Petros Ghazaryan that there are conscientious specialists. Petros Ghazaryan mentioned in one of the questions that men write better than women, with which the guests did not agree. The goal of a publicly funded TV station should be raising issues of public concern through public hearings, to try to come up with solutions, while the commentator, as we have repeatedly stated, expresses his own positions, makes statements that mainly reflect the government’s approaches.
