Both negative and positive articles were published on Zohrab Mnatsakanyan

From 11 to 20 July, 2020, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the RA Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan’s personality and activities.

35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.

In the specified period, 342 articles were declared, 4 of which were negative, 6 were positive and 332 were neutral.

Both negative and positive articles were published on Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.

Amid border tensions, the press mentions that Pashinyan and Mnatsakanyan are still unable to provide any international response in the interests of Armenia. According to one of the analyses “International calls for a ceasefire are ineffective and weak. The bombing of Armenia is not directly criticized. Russia is making general statements, Georgia has joined the anti-Armenian statement, Josep Borrel, the beacon of democracy, and the Commissioner of EU (the dream organization of Armen Grigoryan and Zohrab Mnatsakanyan) made only a senseless tweet.”

To the remark that Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan noted that they are always in touch with international partners, political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan responded that it does not mean a solution to the problem yet. He noted that the CSTO had planned to hold a council meeting, which did not take place. The political scientist thinks that there are many reasons for not holding the sitting, but, according to him, the basis for all that was laid back in 2018, when the CSTO Secretary General was arrested.

Touching upon the topic, Arsen Kharatyan noted that Azerbaijan targets the civilian population, the villages located in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, by sending missiles and bombs.

Meanwhile, Armenia is committed to the peaceful settlement of the process. He reminded the reference of the Foreign Minister, where Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had clearly stated that Armenia is committed to the peaceful settlement of the process.

Referring to the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia within the framework of the OSCE, the press wrote: “On the eve of the meeting, the Azerbaijani representative to the OSCE issued a tough statement and excluded any compromise, in fact making the Foreign Minister, who is preparing for negotiations with the Co-Chairs, embarrassed and at the same time creating a proper opportunity for Armenia to take a tough stance, which Zohrab Mnatsakanyan took advantage of.”
