People are being mocked and labeled on Public TV

On July 10, Petros Ghazaryan’s guest on Public TV was Lusine Hakobyan, a lawyer and president of the “Europe in Law Assossiation” NGO. The topic was the ECHR decision. The conversation turned into a hate speech, targeting the representatives of the former government. Petros Ghazaryan, whose function is to ask questions, actually presented his point of view ․ “There is a human rights activist who never used to express his opinion when there were outrageous injustices, and now he is a fan of Hrayr Tovmasyan, because he has forgotten how the constitution was drafted, how it was presented and how people were deceived. And this human rights activist says that the judges of the ECHR were probably under pressure, because our representative went to Strasbourg to meet them, probably with our new Kalashnikov, and the ECHR made this decision under pressure.”

The guest, in her turn, expressed irony, targeting Arman Tatoyan, noting that he is a close friend of lawyer Siranuysh Sahakyan. The conversation was beyond of all ethical norms, as it was very targeted. Petros Ghazaryan forgot that the program is not of a humorous genre: “Hrayr Tovmasyan vs. Hrayr Tovmasyan.” Hate jokes are not appropriate for Public Television.

“Media Advocate” initiative has recently regularly noticed that Petros Ghazaryan’s interviews go beyond professional and human moral boundaries. By the way, Lusine Hakobyan is the “favorite” lawyer of the Public TV. A publicly funded TV Channel is obliged to provide airtime to other lawyers as well, and not to voice the repeated thoughts expressed by the same people.
