Arayik Harutyunyan remains in the center of criticism

From 21 to 31 May, 2020, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Minister Arayik Harutyunyan’s personality and activities. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.

In the specified period, 737 articles were declared, 127 of which were negative, 9 were positive and 601 were neutral.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan remains in the center of criticism: negative articles still prevail.

The President of the Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan criticized the statement of the ESCS Minister on the declaration of Lanzarote, noting: “The reason why article 6 of the Convention bothers parents is more than clear, as it also applies to primary school beneficiaries, that is, children aged 6 years and over 6”.

Touching upon the sphere of education, Vahagn Varagyan noted: “Now I don’t want to open the brackets, but I urge Arayik Harutyunyan to give up the idea of becoming YSU Rector after failing 5 spheres.”

Harutyun Karapetyan, senior researcher of Molecular Structure Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, referring to Smbat Gogyan’s resignation, noting that Gogyan was leaving his post because of the patronage of Pashinyan and Minister Arayik Harutyunyan towards plagiarists.

“Because of the wrong term usage by the ESCS Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, the statement that there are no closed archives or funds in Armenia, unlike Turkey, was put in danger in a second,” said the former director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Doctor of Historical Sciences Hayk Demoyan.
