Journalist Koryun Simonyan contacted “Media Advocate” initiative, noting that after his article was published, Echmiadzin Deputy Mayor Arsen Petrosyan and Mayor Diana Gasparyan’s spokesperson Mariam Poghosyan made insulting remarks regarding him.
“Media Advocate” initiative urges officials not to go beyond the limits of politeness, as well as not to insult journalists and to respect their professional work.
Such behavior of officials is unacceptable and contradicts freedom of speech, which is a norm enshrined in the Constitution. We urge the responsible bodies to carry out explanatory work with the above-mentioned state officials.
