Publicly-funded Public Television journalist Gevorg Tosunyan, referred to lawyer Amram Makinyan’s Facebook post, where the latter noted that not addressing the issues mentioned in the “scandalous report” will directly confirm the hypothesis that the investigative body and the Public Television are controlled by the same center and have the same aim, that is, to do their assignments in any way.”
In his Facebook post, Tosunyan considered such qualifications simply unacceptable in terms of media-lawyer relations, but in the same post he called the Hraparak daily, which put the lawyer’s idea as a headline, “a rejected media outlet”. He even wrote the word media with quotation marks. Gevorg Tosunyan complains about the lawyer’s statement, but in fact he, as a journalist, allows himself to insult his own community and that is the representatives of his own community. In fact, the journalist sets him apart from the journalistic community; such a comment is against journalistic ethics and undermines journalistic unity.
“Media Advocate” initiative urges the management of the Public Television, in particular, the acting head of the news program Ruben Shahinyan to be consistent with its own employee and urge him to remain within the limits of politeness.
“Media Advocate” initiative has repeatedly noted the shortcomings of the Public Television’s news programs. The whole public is following the ongoing scandals in ArmTV, but has not noticed that the Public Television has been called a “rejected media outlet.”
