The government is blaming journalists for its failures

Margarita Grigoryan, the executive director of the Public Television, has resigned, presenting her point on the happening. “Media Advocate” was following the developments related to this incident and finds important to note that the Prime Minister’s spokesperson Mane Gevorgyan blamed the Public TV for the incident, demanding clarification, while she did not admit her guilt.

Vardan Hakobyan, head of the group conducting the Prime Minister’s live, expressed his opinion on the incident today. “Since I have directly communicated, given, listened to and performed all the instructions, I consider it necessary to give clarifications. I hope that Mrs. Mane Gevorgyan managed to get acquainted with the work of live broadcast of television and the technical signals. Mane Gevorgyan and I were in the same room. I give professional instructions and perform them. Before the technical video signal, I personally said, “We are Rec.” This means that the Prime Minister should have been informed about this immediately. I could have hinted the Prime Minister, but as I mentioned, I was a member of that group in terms of technical support. Who ex officio should have informed the RA Prime Minister about being on the air? My professionalism does not allow me to take on another one’s working responsibilities. It is surprising that Mrs. Mane Gevorgyan did not mention about this in her explanation. This is the main issue. Making a hasty decision and blaming without answering this question, speaks of a biased attitude, to my mind. I, myself, raise this question: being in the same room with my colleagues, letting them know that we are on the air, who else should I have reported about that in that room or outside of it?” By the way, Vardan Hakobyan also wrote a resignation letter. Today in the National Assembly Lilit Makunts mentioned that those responsible should be punished, the name of the TRC (Television and Radio Commission) was also mentioned. Though Nikol Pashinyan did not pay much attention to what happened during his live yesterday, bringing examples of the students of the Soviet years, who thought that the teacher did not eat and did not go to the toilet, the Prime Minister said that the happening was unpleasant, but it was a normal working condition. It turns out that Prime Minister is spreading misinformation via live that he is not worried about the happening.

“Media Advocate” expresses concern that the current government blames the journalists for its failures and the proof of this was the Prime Minister’s April 19 Facebook live.
