From 1 to 10 December, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Member of the National Assembly Naira Zohrabyan’s personality and activities. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 316 articles were declared, 13 of which were positive, 33 were negative and 270 were neutral.
Naira Zohrabyan has slightly lost her positions. Negative articles published on her prevail during this monitoring period.
“My Step” fraction MP Sos Avetisyan, referring to Naira Zohrabyan’s school renovation speech, noted: “Mrs. Naira Zohrabyan, for example is delivering pathetic speeches on schools that were not renovated during their coalition rule. Nothing prevented Mrs. Zohrabyan from presenting pictures of those schools, before, delivering speeches and raising this issue at least once. While, these schools have been in this situation for quite some time. I can’t recall such a speech by her before.” Alen Simonyan, in his turn, noted that Mrs. Zohrabyan along with the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), used to “press the button” and that is the reason why the schools are in such a poor condition.
According to one of the publications, Naira Zohrabyan has made an ambiguous speech in the National Assembly regarding the law on appointing pensions to Constitutional Court members, because she is one of Vahe Grigoryan’s close friends. According to media reports, Ms. Zohrabyan tried to favor both sides.
The law proposed by Naira Zohrabyan, according to which the article on causing the soldiers to commit suicide, has been toughened and now the perpetrators will be sentenced to 14 years imprisonment.
