From 1 to 10 November, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Lilit Makunts’s personality and activities.
35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 29 articles were declared, 5 of which were negative and 24 were neutral.
NA MP Lilit Makunts continues to lack media attention. This shows that Mrs. Makunts is passive in terms of public and political activities.
No positive articles were declared among the few articles published on her.
Media outlets recalled and touched upon Lilit Makunts’s famous expression “The culture is within me” which was uttered by her when she was still the Minister of Culture. The media agencies also presented some other popular expressions by “My Step” alliance representatives and noted that one could print a book devoted to them. Those expressions are described as hilarious statements.
Media outlets report that a pressure is put on the Constitutional Court: “Lilit Makunts, the leader of the ruling fraction of the parliament, was also present during the blockade of the Constitutional Court, something that is impossible to imagine in a legal state. This was followed by attempts to create an artificial crisis at the Constitutional Court, sending a loyal supporter of First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, lawyer Vahe Grigoryan to the court, in order him to blackmail President Armen Sargsyan and obviously violate the law on Constitutional Court.”
