Lena Nazaryan has not been actively covered during this ten-day period

From 11 to 20 October, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Member of the National Assembly Lena Nazaryan’s personality and activities. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.

In the specified period, 38 articles were declared, 11 of which were negative, 2 were positive and 25 were neutral.

Lena Nazaryan has not been actively covered during this ten-day period, as one may judge from the number of articles related to the MP. Negative articles continue to prevail.

Lena Nazaryan participated in a discussion intended to find ways to increase women’s involvement in the political field. According to publications, this was another grant project. It is noted that one of the main supporters of this idea was Mrs. Nazaryan. After the meeting she gave an interview to one of the news agencies. When asked what is the matter if it is a man or a woman, if the person is professional, Nazaryan said that the professional abilities of the person are first considered, but she does not question the professional abilities of women at all. Tn the question, if a person has changed his sex, or is transgender, what will they do then, in which gender quotas will they fit in, Lena Nazaryan, did not answer, simply ignoring it.

The speech of the MP Mikayel Nahapetyan on the topic “Constitutional Law on Political Parties: Existing Problems and the Framework of Amendments” was welcomed. He particularly noted: “Do we change or we make an impression that we change? Lena Nazaryan said something important: I cannot believe that a party that does not have a democracy within, will ensure democracy in the country. We should all believe that we entrust the state apparatus to a structure, members of which, in spite of being ideologically diverse individuals, will adhere to the fundamental principles.”
