From 1 to 10 October, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Member of the National Assembly Lena Nazaryan’s personality and activities. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 62 articles were declared, 30 of which were negative, 1 was positive and 31 were neutral.
NA Deputy Speaker Lena Nazaryan remains in the spotlight of criticism. Levon Galstyan, a member of the “Armenian Environmental Front” Civic Initiative, in an interview, reminded that last year Lena Nazaryan noted that the National Assembly can do a lot for Teghut issue, but it actually does nothing. She then added that Teghut mine should not be exploited at all. In the same interview the environmentalist noted: “After the announcement of Teghut’s exploitation and operation, Lena Nazaryan neither asked for details from the company nor the government.”
According to press reports, Andranik Kocharyan has made offensive remarks on Arpine Hovhannisyan. It was followed by a critical post by Lena Nazaryan which by the way was not definitely accepted. The publication has it: ” National Assembly Vice Speaker Lena Nazaryan’s letter of so called condemnation seemed to be a reproach to us, that is to media outlets, than an adequate assessment of her teammate’s actions.”
According to media reports, Vayots Dzor governor Trdat Sargsyan will not remain unemployed even after his resignation. The press reports that Nikol Pashinyan is dissatisfied with Lena Nazaryan’s husband Narek Babayan, head of the State Property Management Committee and will most likely be replaced by Trdat Sargsyan.
