From 1 to 10 October, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Gagik Tsarukyan’s personality and activities.
35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 211 articles were declared, 9 of which were negative, 28 were positive and 174 were neutral.
Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan has been positively assessed by media though one may also find negative articles regarding the MP.
The media outlets published a post by historian Gegham Safaryan, where the latter, referring to war participants, said that many heroes died in 2015 when they joined Gagik Tsarukyan.
It is mentioned that some details appeared in press regarding Gagik Tsarukyan’s business activity. According to the publication, Gagik Tsarukyan owns dozens of businesses.
According to the news outlets, Artak Harutyunyan who has been appointed by Garik Sargsyan as a community leader in Ararat province, is the son of “Hrayr from Artashat” who was once Gagik Tsarukyan’s bodyguard and is known for beating journalists during protests organized by the “National Unity” Party in 2004 near the Nairi Cinema.
Various politicians have criticized Gagik Tsarukyan and the PAP for opposing the National Assembly over Hrayr Tovmasyan’s dismissal. It is noted that the PAP is still beside the RPA (Republic Party of Armenia).
Those publications, according to which, the PAP founded a political school and Gagik Tsarukyan delivered the first lecture were positively assessed. It is said that international specialists will teach at that school.
Gagik Tsarukyan hosted Ali Reza Nazifi, director of the Tabriz office of the Iran-Armenia Friendship Union, who stated that Gagik Tsarukyan could be a uniting bridge between Iran and the EEU countries.
According to media reports, Gagik Tsarukyan has sponsored the WCIT-2019 forum concert at his own expense.
