No positive articles were declared on Lena Nazaryan

From 21 to 30 September, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Member of the National Assembly Lena Nazaryan’s personality and activities. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.

In the specified period, 49 articles were declared, 24 of which were negative and 25 were neutral.

No positive articles have been written on RA NA Vice Speaker Lena Nazaryan. The news outlets remind that Lena Nazaryan, being a member of a “Transparency International Anticorruption Center” does not initiate anything in order to fight against corruption.

Recently a delegation headed by Lena Nazaryan visited Georgia to participate in the events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Komitas. According to media reports, the Armenian community of Georgia has complained about Lena Nazaryan’s delegation. It is noted: “The Armenian community in Tbilisi is deeply concerned about the fact that the Georgian authorities have forbidden Ashot Melkonyan, Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, to cross the Bagratashen-Sadakhlo border point and take part in the events dedicated to RA Independence Day. As far as Lena Nazaryan’s delegation is concerned, it has not even touched this scandalous topic and has not discussed this unprecedented and insulting incident with the Georgian side.” It is also noted that the visit of the delegation led by Lena Nazaryan has been a source of dissatisfaction and serious concern for the Armenian community.

The media outlets remind of these authorities’ assurance that the people will not be assigned to this or that position based on “nepotism” principle. The publication presents counterarguments, noting that one of the most obvious examples of “nepotism” is the fact that NA Vice Speaker Lena Nazaryan’s spouse, Narek Babayan holds the position of the Chairman of the State Property Management Committee.
