From 1 to 10 September, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Member of the National Assembly Lena Nazaryan’s personality and activities. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 75 articles were declared, 9 of which were negative and 66 were neutral.
There are no positive articles on the NA Vice Speaker Lena Nazaryan, and the rest of the articles are mostly neutral. From the negative articles, it can be concluded that Lena Nazaryan’s position on Amulsar does not satisfy the part of the society with which Mrs. Nazaryan once fought against Amulsar’s exploitation. The social networks and the press remind that when delivering a speech at the National Assembly in 2017, Lena Nazaryan noted about the danger of Amulsar and stated that she was against Amulsar mine’s exploitation.
According to the publications Lena Nazaryan is not a politician of principle but today she speaks of principles and calls for others to be people of principle.
Following Lena Nazaryan’s and some politicians’ positions according to which “Elard” organization’s report did not dispel their concerns about the project and found the report to be largely contradictory for making a specific decision, the public has been asking questions, why the 400,000 $ was spent from the state budget for undertaking an expertise in Amulsar if the company was not competent.
