From 21 to 31 August, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the Member of the National Assembly Naira Zohrabyan’s personality and activities. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 83 articles were declared, 2 of which were positive, 4 were negative and 77 were neutral.
According to our monitoring results, Naira Zohrabyan is getting more positive reviews than negative ones, while, the situation differs in this ten-day period: negative articles prevail.
First, the government did not approve the legislative initiative of PAP MPs Naira Zohrabyan and Vahe Enfiajyan. The deputies suggested that the drivers who pass in the oncoming traffic lane are fined 150.000 drams instead of 30.000 drams. This topic has been much discussed since the tragic accident in the Ararat region, but there have not been any changes.
Naira Zohrabyan’s initiative to abolish the title of Merited Artist, Merited Actor and some other titles has also been criticized. According to actor Armen Marutyan, this decision is unacceptable. The actor, in his turn, proposes to abolish the position of the deputy in the National Assembly.
Mrs. Zohrabyan’s social and political activity continued during this ten-day period, but due to the lack of feedback, neutral articles have been formed.
