Arsen Torosyan at epicenter of scandals again

From 11 to 20 August, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the RA Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan’s personality and activities.

35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.

In the specified period, 109 articles were declared, 35 of which were negative, 2 were positive and 72 were neutral.

The RA Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan is constantly appearing at the center of scandals, both because of the situation in his ministry and his statements related to other issues.

The Amulsar issue has become a major test for the authorities, which also served as a basis for negative publications related to Arsen Torosyan, as the latter stated that the studies show that Amulsar mine is not dangerous. This was not accepted by environmentalists, who raised criticism over Minister’s statement.

The topic of the Istanbul Convention continues to be actively discussed, and negative opinions in the media and the public continue to arise. Negative articles also mention Arsen Torosyan as a supporter of the convention.

Gevorg Tamamyan, head of the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases of “Hematology center after prof. R. H. Yolyan”, posted a Facebook post addressed to Health Minister Arsen Torosyan. He has criticized Arsen Torosyan’s activities and has filed an application for dismissal. Appealing to Torosyan, he wrote that Torosyan “never got rid of the theater he created himself.”

Torosyan is also accused of sponsorhip.
