The “Media Shield 2018-2019” Award Ceremony organized by “Media Advocate” Initiative was held on August 15, 2019.
The year of the media was summed up, and the problems existing in the media field during the past year were raised. Special attention was paid to issues of freedom of speech.
Summary of the year was marked by awards in various nominations. The winners were selected as a result of our media monitoring.
Nine categories and its winners are as follows:
- “The Most Popular News Website” – News.am.
- The “Most Sustainable Developing Media” – Tert.am.
- “The best Armenian Watchdog” – Hetq.am.
- “The Most Covered Politician” – The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan
- “The Most Scandalous Politician” – The Member of the National Assembly, Hayk Sargsyan.”
- “The Most Positively Covered Politician” – The Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Naira Zohrabyan.
- “The most famous Armenian fake” – Ankakh Hayastan (The Facebook user Ankakh Hayastan won the award due to his activity and popularity on the above-mentioned social network).
- “The Best Photojournalist” – Asatur Yesayants.
- “The Best Journalist” – The journalist of “Hraparak” news agency, Vahe Makaryan (The journalist won the award for his principled work, journalistic ethics and quality journalism.
“Media Advocate” initiative continues monitoring implementation. The initiative will always fight against those phenomena which somehow impede freedom of speech. We will pay special attention to publicly funded news outlets and reveal examples of biased journalism.
