“Media Advocate” urges not to create privileges for this or that news agency

Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan participated in the Commencement ceremony of the graduates of military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense. According to Armdaily.am news agency, a special area was separated with a red ribbon for media coverage and journalists were assigned to work there and not to cross the border. According to the above-mentioned media outlet, that part was not convenient for media to work properly.

The news agency also adds that only “Azatutyun” had “special conditions”, with its camerman beyond the red ribbon, next to the government cameramen. Moreover, Nikol Pashinyan himself rebroadcasted on his Facebook page “Azatutyun”’s live which contained its logo.

“Media Advocate” initiative urges the authorities not to create privileges for this or that news agency. If there were other special terms for accreditation to work beyond the red ribbon, why the rest of the news outlets were not aware of it and if there was no such accreditation, what was the principle according to which “Azatutyun” had privileged conditions?

“Media Advocate” initiative will officially appeal to the government for clarification.
