On June 10, the Police detained Arthur Danielyan, the founder and president of the “Adecvad” NGO. Danielyan was taken to the police station from the “Adecvad” NGO’s office with handcuffs on his hands. According to the preliminary information, Arthur Danielyan has been detained for the ideas raised during the “Adekvad” NGO’s press conference. We urge the Government of Armenia to refrain from unlawful actions and not to turn political processes into a repression. We ask the Armenian and international human rights organizations to give an appropriate assessment to the Armenian authorities’ violent actions and to prevent the manifestation of impending dictatorship and harsh restrictions on freedom of speech in Armenia.
