From 11 to 20 May, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the President of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan’s personality and activities. 34 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 418 articles were declared, 52 of which were negative, 22 were positive and 344 were neutral.
The past of the NA President continues pursuing him. This time, news outlets found facts from Ararat Mirzoyan’s past according to which Ararat Mirzoyan used to act against Russia. During this ten-day period, the opposition MPs were thoroughly checked before entering the building. This fact became a matter of discussion, the government noted that they also check the ruling MPs, but it did not satisfy the media and the opposition, and that decision was tied to the name of Ararat Mirzoyan and the NA Chief of Staff. The latter is Ararat Mirzoyan’s friend.
According to news reports, Ararat Mirzoyan is not a separate political figure; on the other hand, news was disseminated according to which Ararat Mirzoyan and the PM’s spokesperson Vladimir Karapetyan are uniting and consolidating their positions.
It is worth reminding that Nikol Pashinyan insisted that there are no separate wings in his political team and in case they appear, they will be “cut off”.
