Konstantin Ter-Nakalyan, the chief editor of “Blognews”, was invited to the Police to participate in the administrative proceedings on the #SutNikol campaign.
In a country that has progressed in the Freedom of Press Index, it seems that freedom of expression should not be subject to any liability. Furthermore, it seemed that such cases stopped being a subject to liability in Armenia anymore. Meanwhile, this is the third case of inviting the chief editor of “Blognews” to law enforcement bodies lately.
The “Media Advocate” initiative considers this case as a “pressure on the journalist, a violation of freedom of expression and calls for respect for freedom of the press and freedom of expression in general.
A year ago, similar actions were carried out by the active members of the #MerzhirSerzhin initiative. After the change of power, the activists were not subjected to liability for such acts.
We call on to respect freedom of speech and not to be guided by double standards.
