From 11 to 20 April, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media reports on the President of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan’s personality and activities. 34 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
In the specified period, 319 articles were declared, 18 of which were negative, 5 were positive and 296 were neutral.
Most of the negative articles on Ararat Mirzoyan were related to the incident at the National Assembly when MP Mkhitar Hayrapetyan had a controversy with his colleague, Edmon Marukyan. Press representatives insist that Ararat Mirzoyan’s intervention not only did not calm down the situation, but even heated it up. The news agencies also reminded of the fact that Ararat Mirzoyan has not served in the army and represented that with negative emphases.
