The events taking place in Ukraine, are not interesting to the Armenian experts, politicians and media representatives

The 1st round of the presidential elections held in Ukraine on 31 March, 2019. According to the preliminary calculations, the representative of the “Servant of the People” Party, actor Volodymyr Zelensky and self-nominated acting president Petro Poroshenko made it through to the second round.

Ukraine’s presidential election were in the spotlight of the “Media Advocate” initiative.

From March 14 to April 1, 34 leading online news agencies were monitored.

The results of the study show that the events taking place in Ukraine, are not interesting to the Armenian experts, politicians and media representatives. 537 articles have been monitored, in which there are almost no analyses and professional opinions, but reprints. It is surprising especially if one considers the fact that Ukraine has recently activated its economic and political ties with Azerbaijan. Ukraine is one of the important states for Armenia in the economic and geopolitical aspects. According to the data of 2017, the trade exchange with Ukraine has increased by 181.6%, which is the third result by the way.

There are questions we needed the answers to:

  1. What will Armenia receive if Zelensky is elected?
  2. What will Armenia receive if Timoshenko is elected?
  3. What will Armenia receive if Poroshenko continues to hold office?
  4. How will Armenian-Ukrainian relations develop?

Let us remind that Zelensky noted about his willingness to visit Armenia, which indicates that Armenia is not the last state for Ukraine and we have quite good geopolitical relationship. Besides, we should not forget about the influential and active Armenian community in Ukraine.
