“Media Advocate” initiative starts a new phase of research. Politicians will now be in our spotlight. All those articles having a reference to a selected political figure will be monitored.
This time we focused our attention on the third president of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.
From March 1 to 10, 2019, the “Media Advocate” initiative followed online media coverage on the president’s personality and activity. 35 leading Armenian news agencies have been monitored.
During the specified period, 625 articles were declared, 239 of which were negative, 41 were positive and 345 were neutral.
From the results of the monitoring, one can conclude that authorities continue Serge Sargsyan’s demonization in order to cover their own shortcomings. Some of the negative articles are linked to the “March 1” case and the statements of armed group “Sasna Tsrer”.
